الوصف: Isomeric states of the neutron-rich isotope 18973Ta116 were populated via fragmentation of a primary beam of 208Pb ions at 1 GeV/u impinging on a 9Be target at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. The isotopes of interest were separated, identified and delivered to the DESPEC setup. Two isomers were deduced in 189Ta116 and their lifetimes were measured based on the γ-ray time distributions.

الوصف: 7 pags., 3 figs., 2 tabs. ; Classical novae are thermonuclear explosions in stellar binary systems, and important sources of 26Al and 22Na. While γ rays from the decay of the former radioisotope have been observed throughout the Galaxy, 22Na remains untraceable. Its half-life (2.6 yr) would allow the observation of its 1.275 MeV γ-ray line from a cosmic source. However, the prediction of such an observation requires good knowledge of its nucleosynthesis. The 22Na(p, γ)23Mg reaction remains the only source of large uncertainty about the amount of 22Na ejected. Its rate is dominated by a single resonance on the short-lived state at 7785.0(7) keV in 23Mg. Here, we propose a combined analysis of particle-particle correlations and velocity-difference profiles to measure femtosecond nuclear lifetimes. The application of this method to the study of the 23Mg states, places strong limits on the amount of 22Na produced in novae and constrains its detectability with future space-borne observatories. ; This work was supported by the Normandie Region, the European project ChETECINFRA (101008324), ASTRANUCAP IRN, NuAG IRP, SPIRAL2-CZ, and the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Nuclear Physics, under contract number DE-AC02-06CH11357. الوصف: The γ-ray decay of excited states of the one-valence-proton nucleus ¹³³Sb has been studied using cold-neutron induced fission of ²³⁵U and ²⁴¹Pu targets, during the EXILL campaign at the ILL reactor in Grenoble. By using a highly efficient HPGe array, coincidences between γ-rays prompt with the fission event and those delayed up to several tens of microseconds were investigated, allowing to observe, for the first time, high-spin excited states above the 16.6 μs isomer. Lifetimes analysis, performed by fast-timing techniques with LaBr₃(Ce) scintillators, revealed a difference of almost two orders of magnitude in B(M1) strength for transitions between positive-parity medium-spin yrast states. The data are interpreted by a newly developed microscopic model which takes into account couplings between core excitations (both collective and non-collective) of the doubly magic nucleus ¹³²Sn and the valence proton, using the Skyrme effective interaction in a consistent way. The results point to a fast change in the nature of particle-core excitations with increasing spin.

الوصف: The γ-ray emission from the nuclei 62,64Fe following Coulomb excitation at bombarding energy of 400-440 AMeV was measured with special focus on E1 transitions in the energy region 4-8 MeV. The unstable neutron-rich nuclei 62,64Fe were produced at the FAIR-GSI laboratories and selected with the FRS spectrometer. The γ decay was detected with AGATA. From the measured γ-ray spectra the summed E1 strength is extracted and compared to microscopic quasi-particle phonon model calculations. The trend of the E1 strength with increasing neutron number is found to be fairly well reproduced with calculations that assume a rather complex structure of the 1− states (three-phonon states) inducing a strong fragmentation of the E1 nuclear response below the neutron binding energy.

الوصف: In this paper, we present a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM)-based photodetector module designed to readout large cerium-doped lanthanum bromide (LaBr3:Ce) scintillators (cylindrical 1' × 1' and 2' × 2') for nuclear physics experiments. The detector prototype has a modular structure and implements a real-time stabilization of the SiPM gain to compensate for the gain drift with temperature. The SiPM module consists of an array of 5 by 6 near-ultraviolet high-density SiPMs (Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Italy), each one having an active area of 6 mm × 6 mm and 30-Î1⁄4mmicrocells. The single array is used for the 1' crystal readout, and it is assembled in a 2× 2 format to read the 2' scintillator. Spectroscopic measurements were performed with both crystals. The 2' crystal was irradiated with different radioactive sources in an energy range between 122 keV and 1.3 MeV, and an energy resolution of 3.19 ± 0.01% full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) has been achieved at 662 keV. The result is very close to the 3.07 ± 0.03% FWHM measured with Super Bialkali photomultiplier tube (PMT) (Hamamatsu R6233-100) at the same energy with the same 2' crystal. In the framework of the comparison between SiPM and PMT for LaBr3:Ce readout, we provide an analysis of the energy resolution contributions based on the measurements performed with the developed gamma-ray detection system.

الوصف: International audience ; In this work, we will present the characterization, in terms of gamma response and internal activity of newly developed crystals that contains Lanthanum in their chemical formula. In particular we tested two LaBr 3 :Ce,Sr, one CLLBC and two CLLB crystals with different volumes. These crystals just overcome the prototype stage and, even if the production in still not standardized at least for large optics, they have been very recently commercialized in sizes interesting for high-energy gamma-ray spectroscopy, as for application in nuclear physics experiments. In particular, we will report on the study of the decay time, light yield and energy resolution with gamma rays, on the response as a function of the gamma interaction point and on the internal activity due to the presence of Lanthanum.

الوصف: An unexpected enhancement in the low-energy part of the γ-strength function for light and medium-mass nuclei has been discovered at the Oslo Cyclotron Laboratory. This enhancement could lead to an increase in the neutron-capture rates up to two orders of magnitude for very exotic, neutron-rich nuclei. However, it is still an open question whether this structure persists when approaching the neutron drip line.
