الوصف: Autonomous vehicles require sophisticated sensors to safely and timely detect the conditions of the world around them and act accordingly. However, just like human senses, sensors have limitations and blind spots. Vulnerable Road Users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, are at particular risk since they can quickly come to the road from a blind spot too late for the vehicle to react. This article evaluates the use of a commercial 5G-enabled smartphone and a purpose-designed app to advertise a Vulnerable Road User position to a connected autonomous vehicle using European Telecommunications Standards Institute standard messages. The results obtained in a real testbed proved that a 5G network is capable of supporting the low latency required for this use case, even though the usefulness of the positioning data transmitted was limited by the accuracy of the GPS embedded in commercial smartphones.

الوصف: Microsoft proposed RADAR in 2000, the first indoor positioning system based on Wi-Fi fingerprinting. Since then, the indoor research community has worked not only to improve the base estimator but also on finding an optimal RSS data representation. The long-term objective is to find a positioning system that minimises the mean positioning error. Despite the relevant advances in the last 23 years, a disruptive solution has not been reached yet. The evaluation with non-open datasets and comparisons with non-optimized baselines make the analysis of the current status of fingerprinting for indoor positioning difficult. In addition, the lack of implementation details or data used for evaluation in several works make results reproducibility impossible. الوصف: Falls in older people are a result of a combination of multiple risk factors. There are few studies involving predictive models in a community context. The aim of this study was to determine the validation of a new model for predicting fall risk in older adults (65+) living alone in community dwellings (n = 186; n = 117) with a test–retest reliability study. We consider in the predictive model the significant factors emerged from the bivariate analysis: age, zone, social community resources, physical exercise, self-perception of health, difficulty to keep standing, difficulty to sit and get up from a chair, strain to see, use of technical devices, hypertension and number of medications. The final model explained 28.5% of the risk of falling in older adults living alone in community dwellings. The AUC = 0.660 (se = 0.065, IC 95% 0.533–0.787, p = 0.017). The predictive model developed revealed a satisfactory discriminatory performance of the model and can contribute to clinical practice, with respect to the evaluation of risk of falling in this frailty group and preventing falls. ; This work has been done within the research project Alertfalls—Prevenção de quedas em pessoas mais velhas a viverem sós (NORTE -01-0145-024077), supported by Norte Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020), under the PORTUGAL 2020 Partnership Agreement.

الوصف: Globalement, la question de l’arrière a été relativement peu mobilisée de manière transversale et transnationale par une historiographie de la Grande Guerre longtemps assez indifférente à cet « autre front ». Si les mobilisations militaires ont été largement étudiées, celles propres aux sociétés civiles européennes traversées par la guerre constituent en revanche encore un champ à la fois très vaste et partiellement défriché : comment, loin du front, dans une Europe déchirée par la guerre, les populations ont-elles réussi à s’adapter à un quotidien complètement bouleversé ? Quelles ont été les formes et les degrés de leurs mobilisations ou de leurs résistances ? C’est à ces questions que le présent ouvrage entend répondre en articulant quatre thématiques principales jusqu’à présent assez peu abordées dans un cadre européen, emboîtant les échelles nationales régionales, départementales voire villageoises. Les aspects économiques sont ainsi essentiels à la compréhension d’un conflit qui s’appuie comme jamais auparavant sur des productions de masse reconfigurant le cadre productif. L’encadrement des individus par les initiatives privées ou étatiques contribue de manière décisive à la mobilisation dans la durée des populations civiles. Par ailleurs, le croisement des expériences rurales et citadines, dans des espaces encore mal connus, met en lumière des acteurs locaux pris entre les pratiques ordinaires et l’extraordinaire du temps de guerre. Enfin, l’étude de la construction et de l’hybridation des identités et des représentations à l’arrière permet une relecture neuve des expériences vécues du conflit.
