الوصف: Despite the rapid growth of biodiversity data within global and national biodiversity infrastructures, the types of data available in these infrastructures are limited. In particular, the lack of data that captures presences/absences of species over multiple survey or sampling events has been identified as a major weakness of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA).The ALA, in collaboration with GBIF, have started work to deliver improved access to data types in the short-term by focusing on event-based biodiversity data, like from expeditions or ecological surveys, as part of the ALA Extended Data Model project. The ALA takes an opinionated approach to publishing event-based biodiversity data using Event Core Darwin Core Archives (DwCA), adding fields and vocabularies to Darwin Core that represent nested events, and link occurrence records to a parent event (based on The Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS) ENV-DATA). They have currently developed a pilot system to showcase how data are published, and a user interface for querying and downloading data directly from the system.Through this collaboration to create a pilot event-based system, GBIF aims to enhance its indexing and representation of event-based data by trialling a demonstration tool to explore event data. This tool will also allow for feedback for the new GBIF extended data model tasks.Publishing event-based biodiversity data will make information like collection methods, sampling effort, and species presence/absence accessible. This data, in addition to existing occurrence data, will allow people to answer more detailed ecological questions using more complex statistical analyses of species distributions over time.

الوصف: In this work, an analytical solution for the hydrodynamic forces that transport silver ions between microelectrodes of axially variable shape is presented. Four different microelectrode shapes were employed to explore the use of passive methods for silver dendritic growth. The results indicate that a fractal microelectrode shape promotes better silver dendritic formation due to lightning rod effect, while in all configurations, a condition of no-contact between dendrites is reached due to an induced pressure field.

الوصف: The objective is to analyze the degree of adoption of e-commerce in the Paraguayan hotel sector through the eMICA model during the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022. It was based on a descriptive and transactional quantitative approach. The population of 52 hotels (36 in Asunción -ASU- and 16 in Salto de Guairá -SDG-) was also taken as a sample for the study. Four accommodations were discarded for not meeting the required requirements, thus leaving 48 establishments for analysis. The inclusion criteria were: premises registered in REGISTUR, located in ASU and/or SDG and in operation. The eMICA model composed of three stages was used as a data collection instrument: Promotion (2); Provision (3) and Processing (1), six levels and 38 attributes adapted from Burgess, Parrish and Alcock; Sutty Segovia and Kwan Chung, in May 2022. The most relevant results were: the Processing stage (60%) has obtained the highest compliance with its attributes, followed by Promotion (59%) and Provision (45%). The attributes with the highest compliance were Hotel name (100%), Address (98%), Photographs (98%) and WiFi (88%). It is concluded that the degree of implementation of e-commerce in hotels through the eMICA model has had a progressive increase during the period -before and during- the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, it should be noted that such implementation would depend on factors such as technological skills, HR quality, support from senior management and consumer preparation. ; El objetivo es analizar el grado de adopción del e-commerce en el sector hotelero paraguayo a través del modelo eMICA durante la pandemia del COVID-19, 2022. الوصف: GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) is the largest data aggregator of biological occurrences in the world. GBIF was officially established in 2001 and has since aggregated 1.8 billion occurrence records from almost 2000 publishers. GBIF relies heavily on Darwin Core (DwC) for organising the data it receives. GBIF Data Processing PipelinesEvery single occurrence record that gets published to GBIF goes through a series of three processing steps until it becomes available on GBIF.org.source downloadingparsing into verbatim occurrences interpreting verbatim valuesOnce all records are available in the standard verbatim form, they go through a set of interpretations. In 2018, GBIF processing underwent a significant rewrite in order to improve speed and maintainablility. One of the main goals of this rewrite was to improve the consistency between GBIF's processing and that of the Living Atlases. In connection with this, GBIF's current data validator fell out of sync with GBIF pipelines processing.New GBIF Data ValidatorThe current GBIF data validator is a service that allows anyone with a GBIF-relevant dataset to receive a report on the syntactical correctness and the validity of the content contained within the dataset. By submitting a dataset to the validator, users can go through the validation and interpretation procedures usually associated with publishing in GBIF and quickly determine potential issues in data, without having to publish it. GBIF is planning to rework the current validator because the current validator does not exactly match current GBIF pipelines processing.Planned Changes The new validator will match the processing of the GBIF pipelines project.Validations will be saved and show up on user pages similar to the way downloads and derived datasets appear now (no more bookmarking validations!)A downloadable report of issues found will be produced.Suggested Changes/Ideas One of the main guiding philosophies for the new validator user interface will be avoiding information overload. الوصف: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) runs a global data infrastructure that integrates data from more than 1700 institutions. Combining data at this scale has been achieved by deploying open Application Programming Interfaces (API) that adhere to the open data standards provided by Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG). In this presentation, we will provide an overview of the GBIF infrastructure and APIs and provide insight into lessons learned while operating and evolving the systems, such as long-term API stability, ease of use, and efficiency. This will include the following topics:The registry component provides RESTful APIs for managing the organizations, repositories and datasets that comprise the network and control access permissions. Stability and ease of use have been critical to this being embedded in many systems.Changes within the registry trigger data crawling processes, which connect to external systems through their APIs and deposit datasets into GBIF's central data warehouse. One challenge here relates to the consistency of data across a distributed network.Once a dataset is crawled, the data processing infrastructure organizes and enriches data using reference catalogues accessed through open APIs, such as the vocabulary server and the taxonomic backbone. Being able to process data quickly as source data and reference catalogues change is a challenge for this component. The data access APIs provide search and download services. Asynchronous APIs are required for some of these aspects, and long-term stability is a requirement for widespread adoption. Here we will talk about policies for schema evolution to avoid incompatible changes, which would cause failures in client systems. The APIs that drive the user interface have specific needs such as efficient use of the network bandwidth. We will present how we approached this, and how we are currently adopting GraphQL as the next generation of these APIs. There are several APIs that we believe are of use for the data publishing ...

الوصف: Perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) is increasingly being regarded as an important endocrine organ that directly impacts vessel function, structure, and contractility in obesity-associated diseases. We uncover here a role for myeloid G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2 (GRK2) in the modulation of PVAT-dependent vasodilation responses. GRK2 expression positively correlates with myeloid- (CD68) and lymphoid-specific (CD3, CD4, and CD8) markers and with leptin in PVAT from patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms. Using mice hemizygous for GRK2 in the myeloid lineage (LysM-GRK2+/), we found that GRK2 deficiency in myeloid cells allows animals to preserve the endothelium-dependent acetylcholine or insulin-induced relaxation, which is otherwise impaired by PVAT, in arteries of animals fed a high fat diet (HFD). Downregulation of GRK2 in myeloid cells attenuates HFD-dependent infiltration of macrophages and T lymphocytes in PVAT, as well as the induction of tumor necrosis factor- (TNF) and NADPH oxidase (Nox)1 expression, whereas blocking TNF or Nox pathways by pharmacological means can rescue the impaired vasodilator responses to insulin in arteries with PVAT from HFD-fed animals. Our results suggest that myeloid GRK2 could be a potential therapeutic target in the development of endothelial dysfunction induced by PVAT in the context of obesity ; Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO/FEDER), Spain (grant SAF2017-84125-R to F.M.J. and C.M.; SAF2016-80305P to M.S. and A.M.B.); CIBER de Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (CIBERCV); Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain (grant CB16/11/00278 to F.M.J. and CB16/11/00286 to M.S.); European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) Novo Nordisk Partnership for Diabetes Research in Europe Grant (to F.M.J.); and Programa de Actividades en Biomedicina de la Comunidad de Madrid—FEDER-a way to build Europe B2017/BMD-3671-INFLAMUNE to F.M.J. and B2017/BMD-3676-AORTASANA to M.S. الوصف: In the present work, we developed a numerical analysis for an electroosmotic flow circulating in a rectangular microchannel considering electrolyte viscosity as a function of the induced electric field; which is also reflected in the slip condition imposed on the system walls, since the slip length is a function of the fluid viscosity. It should be clarified this is an entirely hydrodynamic problem, and for this reason there are no induced pressure gradients, because we are in the presence of a purely electroosmotic flow, where the fluid motion is due only to electrokinetic forces. Based on these comments, the problem is centered on high induced potentials, enabling viscoelectric effect analysis in the electroosmotic flow, which leads to significant increases in velocity and volumetric flow profiles compared to the case where the viscosity is a constant and there is no slip condition. Due to analytical analysis limitations, we implemented a dimensionless equation scheme defined by the continuity equation, the momentum equations in the x and y direction, the Poisson-Boltzmann equation, and the charge conservation equation to obtain the velocity and volumetric flow rate profiles mentioned above. This model is described in its variational form in order to implement the finite element technique using free software, FreeFem++. The results obtained show how the viscoelectric effect is relevant when working with high induced potentials; that is, for values of ζ ¯ > 1 , when the dimensionless viscoelectric parameter f ¯ increases, there is a significant decrease in the velocity profiles u , a situation that is not observed when ζ ¯ ≤ 1 , where there are low induced potentials, and for this reason, as the dimensionless parameter f ¯ increases, the velocity profiles remain constant. This condition is preserved for different values of the slip length δ ...

الوصف: The liver plays a key role during fasting to maintain energy homeostasis and euglycemia via metabolic processes mainly orchestrated by the insulin/glucagon ratio. We report here that fasting or calorie restriction protocols in C57BL6 mice promote a marked decrease in the hepatic protein levels of G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2 (GRK2), an important negative modulator of both G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and insulin signaling. Such downregulation of GRK2 levels is liver-specific and can be rapidly reversed by refeeding. We find that autophagy, and not the proteasome, represents the main mechanism implicated in fasting-induced GRK2 degradation in the liver in vivo. Reducing GRK2 levels in murine primary hepatocytes facilitates glucagon-induced glucose production and enhances the expression of the key gluconeogenic enzyme Pck1. Conversely, preventing full downregulation of hepatic GRK2 during fasting using adenovirus-driven overexpression of this kinase in the liver leads to glycogen accumulation, decreased glycemia, and hampered glucagon-induced gluconeogenesis, thus preventing a proper and complete adaptation to nutrient deprivation. Overall, our data indicate that physiological fasting-induced downregulation of GRK2 in the liver is key for allowing complete glucagon-mediated responses and efficient metabolic adaptation to fasting in vivo. ; Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad (MINECO/FEDER), Spain (grant SAF2017-84125-R to F.M. and C.
