    الوصف: Abstract Unstable particles decay sooner or later, so they are not described by asymptotic one-particle states and they should not be included as independent states in unitarity relations such as the optical theorem. The same applies to any countable collection of unstable particles. We show that the behaviour of unparticle stuff, that is, a continuous collection of particles with different masses and common decay channels, is pretty different: it has a non-vanishing probability of surviving for ever and the corresponding asymptotic states must be taken into account to comply with unitarity. We also discuss compressed spectra and the transition from the discrete to the continuous case.

    الوصف: This study evaluates the efficacy of hyperspectral data for detecting yellow and brown rust in wheat, employing machine learning models and the SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique) augmentation technique to tackle unbalanced datasets. Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), and Gaussian Naïve Bayes (GNB) models were assessed. Overall, SVM and RF models showed higher accuracies, particularly when utilizing SMOTE-enhanced datasets. The RF model achieved 70% accuracy in detecting yellow rust without data alteration. Conversely, for brown rust, the SVM model outperformed others, reaching 63% accuracy with SMOTE applied to the training set. This study highlights the potential of spectral data and machine learning (ML) techniques in plant disease detection. It emphasizes the need for further research in data processing methodologies, particularly in exploring the impact of techniques like SMOTE on model performance.

    الوصف: Hybrid configurations that combine two different solar thermal collector technologies are considered to improve the economic competitiveness of solar systems in district heating applications. However, the performance of these systems in the industrial sector has been scarcely studied. This study evaluates the energetic and economic potential of hybrid systems with flat plate and parabolic trough collectors under different industrial process temperatures and radiation levels. To enable this evaluation, a hybrid field sizing methodology was developed. The results showed that the hybrid system could achieve high solar fractions with a lower levelized cost of heat than parabolic trough collector individual systems and smaller solar field areas than flat plate collector individual systems. Furthermore, the hybrid system with approximately 50% flat plate collectors reached monthly solar fractions up to 91% higher than the individual flat plate collector alternative. The seasonal performance demonstrates that the hybrid configuration could have great potential for applications with higher demand in the summer months, such as solar cooling with absorption chillers and solar water desalination for crop irrigation. This study contributes to the understanding of the potential of hybrid systems in the industrial sector and presents tools and insights for future research of hybrid solar thermal configurations.

    الوصف: Abstract Trace fossils from Ordovician deep-marine environments are typically produced by a shallow endobenthos adapted to live under conditions of food scarcity by means of specialized grazing, farming, and trapping strategies, preserved in low-energy intermediate to distal zones of turbidite systems. High-energy proximal zones have been considered essentially barren in the early Paleozoic. We report here the first trace and body fossils of lingulide brachiopods in deep-marine environments from an Upper Ordovician turbidite channel-overbank complex in Asturias, Spain. Body and trace fossils are directly associated, supporting the interpretation of a lingulide tracemaker. Ellipsoidal cross-section, cone-in-cone spreite, and spade morphologies suggest the specimens belong to Lingulichnus verticalis. The oblique orientation in both trace and body fossils is the result of tectonic deformation. The organisms were suspension feeders showing escape, dwelling, and equilibrium behaviours controlled by sedimentation rates associated with turbidite deposition. These trace fossils and their in situ producers represent the oldest evidence of widespread endobenthos colonization in high-energy, proximal areas of turbidite systems, expanding the bathymetric range of Lingulichnus and the variety of behaviours and feeding styles in early Paleozoic deep-marine environments.

    الوصف: The increasing demand for optimizing the use of agricultural resources will require the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and precision farming management. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) sprayers seem promising due to their potential to perform precision or spot spraying, particularly in woody crop environments where total surface spraying is unnecessary. However, incorporating this technology is limited by the lack of scientific knowledge about the environmental risks associated with UAV sprayers and the strict legal framework. Nonetheless, these spraying systems’ characteristic downwash airflow and the limited swath width can potentially mitigate drift in hedgerow crops. During our study we performed comparative studies aimed to compare the airborne drift, soil, and crop depositions between a conventional orchard sprayer and a UAV sprayer in a commercial superhigh-density orchard in the South Iberian Peninsula in 2022. Our findings reveal that, in superhigh-density olive orchards, the UAV sprayer presents a substantial reduction in airborne drift, while soil depositions showed no significant differences compared to those of a conventional terrestrial orchard sprayer. Crop depositions were significantly lower when utilizing the UAV sprayer. These results suggest that introducing UAV spraying technology in Mediterranean agricultural systems, under specific scenarios, can effectively reduce the environmental impact of crop spraying and encourage the responsible use of plant protection products (PPPs).

    الوصف: The distribution of copper, iron, and sulfur during the oxidation of La Caridad copper concentrate particles under simulated flash smelting conditions was studied in a laboratory reactor. Six wet-sieved size fractions and the unsieved copper concentrate were oxidized at 1123 K and 40% and 70% O2 by volume in the process gas during the experiments. Samples of partially oxidized particles were collected at 0.2, 0.8, and 0.9 m from the point of entry and analyzed in a QEMSCAN® unit to determine the elemental composition within the population of particles. The distribution of the major elements during oxidation was strongly dependent upon the size and chemical composition of the initial particles. Overall, the copper content tended to increase and sulfur content decreased along the reactor length within all sizes. In contrast, the distribution of iron did not follow a general trend, as it was found to increase, decrease, or remain unchanged depending on the particle size. This finding may represent a key feature to further investigate the reaction path followed by particles during flash smelting, especially those associated with particle fragmentation.     الوصف: The present paper presents the design of a teaching innovation project called "OCIGraf 2D". This project sought to introduce students to the basic principles of graphic representation (two-dimensional) based on a teaching proposal in which the symbiosis "cartographic plane - leisure pedagogy" is used as a teaching-learning tool. The objective is to motivate and reinvigorate highly reluctant students to acquire basic knowledge, mainly theoretical, regarding the subject of "Technical Drawing" (Graphic Expression area) through an innovative proposal inspiring active and participatory education with the public. Through this, it was sought to encourage curiosity based on practice and action-research (participation). Outcomes produced from the pilot study point to improved motivation in the participating student group regarding drawing out a 2D plan. This is evidenced by the fact that students reported learning to be practical for their daily life. Resumen En este trabajo se presenta el diseño de un proyecto de innovación docente, denominado con el acrónimo "OCIGraf 2D", que versa sobre la introducción del alumnado a los principios básicos de la representación gráfica (bidimensional), a partir de una propuesta docente en la que se utiliza como herramienta de enseñanza-aprendizaje la simbiosis "plano cartográfico - pedagogía del ocio". El objetivo es motivar y recuperar al discente más remiso a la adquisición de conocimientos básicos, principalmente teóricos, de la materia de "Dibujo Técnico" (área de Expresión Gráfica) mediante una propuesta innovadora que genere una educación ciudadana activa y participativa. De cara a fomentar la curiosidad, a partir de la práctica y la investigación-acción (participación). Los resultados obtenidos del estudio piloto apuntan a una mejora de la motivación del grupo de estudiantes en relación a la representación de un plano 2D, evidenciada en que el alumnado pone de manifiesto que lo aprendido les resulta práctico de cara a su día a día.
