    الوصف: Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of dupilumab during the first year of treatment in a real-life setting, focusing on improvement in nasal polyp score (NPS) as well as specific symptoms, quality of life and olfactory function. Methodology/principal: A multicentric observational cohort study was carried out. A total of 170 patients were enrolled in the Otorhinolaryngology Unit of the three University Hospitals and considered for dupilumab therapy. All recorder characteristics were age (at the first dupilumab application visit), sex, smoke habits, previous local and systemic corticosteroid therapy, history of endoscopic sinus surgery, number of previous endoscopic sinus surgery, concomitant asthma, history of an allergic condition, immunoglobulin E (IgE), allergy to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD), other comorbidities associated, blood eosinophils, nasal polyp score, sinonasal outcome test 22 (SNOT 22), sniffin' stick test, the start date of dupilumab therapy and number of doses of dupilumab and eventually, Dupilumab's adverse events related to administration. The Wilcoxon test for dependent samples was performed to compare variables. Statistical significance was assumed for p values < 0.05. Results: A statistically significant reduction in SNOT-22 and NPS was shown at the 6th and 12th month compared to baseline values (p < 0.001 for both comparisons). A statistically significant increase value at the Sniffin' sticks test was shown in the 6th and 12th month compared to baseline values (p < 0.001 for both comparisons). At the 12-month follow-up, according to EUFOREA indications, all patients were considered to remain in treatment with dupilumab and continued the treatment because of a reduced NPS, improved quality of life and a reduced need for system corticosteroids.     الوصف: International audience ; Variable Angle-Tow (VAT) laminates offer a promising alternative to straight fiber composites. By varying fibers orientation within the structure plane, ambitious design and performance goals can be achieved. However, the wider design space results in a more complex problem with more parameters to consider. Carrera’s Unified Formulation (CUF) has been used in previous works performing buckling, vibrational and stress analyses of VAT plates. Usually, one-dimensional (1D) CUF beam models are used, while two-dimensional (2D) plate models are obtained as a particular case of shells by considering a null curvature. In most cases, a linear law is considered to describe the variation of fibers orientation in the main plane of the structure. The purpose of this article is to extend the CUF 2D plate finite elements family to the mechanical analysis of composite laminated plate structures with curvilinear fibers. The main contribute consists in the development of a CUF FE model within the Reissner’s Mixed Variational Theorem (RMVT) context for an improved calculation of the out-of-plane stress components. Results show that RMVT can predict in-plane stresses and satisfy the though-the-thickness transverse stresses continuity due to inter-layer equilibrium. The accuracy of RMVT-based models is also investigated using two different approximation points distributions along the plates thickness.

    الوصف: Hyperspectral target detection is a task of primary importance in remote sensing since it allows for location and discrimination of target features. To this end, the reflectance maps, which contain the spectral signatures and related abundances of the materials in the observed scene, are often used. However, due to the low spatial resolution of most hyperspectral sensors, targets occupy a fraction of the pixel and, hence, the spectra of different sub-pixel targets (including the background spectrum) are mixed together within the same pixel. To solve this issue, in this paper, we adopt a generalized replacement model accounting for multiple sub-pixel target spectra and formulate the detection problem at hand as a binary hypothesis test where under the alternative hypothesis the target is modeled in terms of a linear combination of endmembers whose coefficients also account for the presence of the background. Then, we devise detection architectures based upon the generalized likelihood ratio test where the unknown parameters are suitably estimated through procedures inspired by the maximum likelihood approach. The performances of the proposed decision schemes are evaluated by means of both synthetic as well as real data and compared with an analogous counterpart by showing the effectiveness of the proposed procedure.

    الوصف: This paper tests a SAR image coregistration method, developed to account for a joint rotation and range/azimuth shift effect in absence of zooming, on foliage penetrating (FOPEN) data. In particular, the method is referred as a constrained Least Squares (CLS) optimization method and, in its basic form, it sharply extracts all patches composing the entire image. Differently, in next developments it applies a detection stage to identify extended areas in the images where patches are then selected. Moreover, it also performs a refinement of the equations in the CLS problem through an iterative cancellation procedure. The performance of this enhanced version of the CLS are made on the challenging Carabas-II VHF-band FOPEN SAR data to demonstrate its effectiveness also in high-resolution SAR images.

    الوصف: This paper proposes a machine learning-based architecture for audio signals classification based on a joint exploitation of the Chebychev moments and the Mel-Frequency Cepstrum Coefficients. The procedure starts with the computation of the Mel-spectrogram of the recorded audio signals; then, Chebychev moments are obtained projecting the Cadence Frequency Diagram derived from the Mel-spectrogram into the base of Chebychev moments. These moments are then concatenated with the Mel-Frequency Cepstrum Coefficients to form the final feature vector. By doing so, the architecture exploits the peculiarities of the discrete Chebychev moments such as their symmetry characteristics. The effectiveness of the procedure is assessed on two challenging datasets, UrbanSound8K and ESC-50.

    الوصف: This paper proposes a convolution neural network (CNN) architecture for automatic recognition of signals on the basis of their modulations for Cognitive software defined radio (SDR) applications. It is developed starting from two CNNs specifically designed for this problem and is characterized by having a low number of convolution and fully connected layers sharing also a very low number of filters/units. Moreover, Batch normalization is used to increase learning rate and reduce training time. The reduced complexity together with its low operating time make it compliant with real-time SDR applications. The proposed architecture is validated on the RadioML2016.10a dataset showing interesting results in discriminating both analog and digital modulations under different signal to noise ratio (SNR) regimes.

    الوصف: Accurate synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images coregistration is on the base of several remote sensing applications, such as interferometry, change detection, etc. This paper proposes a new algorithm for jointly coregister a stack of multitemporal SAR images exploiting the cross-correlations computed for each couple of patches' cross-correlation. By doing so, the method is capable of exploit also the respective misregistration information between the slave during the estimation process. This methodology is applied to improve the performance of the constrained Least Squares (CLS) optimization method that does not account for the reciprocal information related to the slaves. Tests on real-recorded data shown the benefits of the proposed method in terms of root mean square error (RMSE) for images affected by respective rotations.

    الوصف: Coregistration is among the most important and challenging tasks when dealing with multiple synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, especially when they are acquired at different time instants and characterised by low signal to noise power ratio (SNR) that contributes to their coherence reduction. However, even if some technological expedients could be implemented to maintain the same trajectory and to compensate for these inaccuracies during the acquisition campaign, multitemporal SAR images always need additional registration refinements after compression. Usually, to coregister a series of multitemporal SAR images, one of them is selected as the master, and the remainders are separately registered to it. Differently, in this study, a new strategy is developed to jointly coregister a stack of multitemporal SAR images. It is based on the exploitation of the cross-correlations in turn computed from each couple of cross-correlations (a.k.a. cross-cross-correlations) of the extracted patches. By doing so, the method is capable of exploiting also the respective misregistration information between the slaves during the estimation process. In this respect, this methodology is applied to enhance the registration capabilities of the constrained Least Squares (CLS) optimisation method, which instead does not account for the reciprocal information related to the slaves. Several tests are performed on multitemporal airborne-measured SAR data. Obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in terms of achieved root mean square error for images affected by respective rotations also in comparison with the CLS counterpart.

    الوصف: The availability of accurate estimates of the delay or time of arrival of the incoming signals is of paramount importance for the position estimation in passive radars with multiple receivers. This correspondence aims at improving estimation of the delays by multiple detectors exploiting the cross-correlation between the cross-correlation estimates (say cross-cross-correlation) of the received signals. The resulting equation system is formulated as a least squares minimization problem, whose solution is efficiently found computing the pseudoinverse of the model matrix. In fact, the cross-cross-correlation implicitly performs a filtering operation on the considered signal, approximating the generalized cross-correlator behavior, without using statistical information about the signal spectra. The proposed method is numerically validated in comparison with classic counterparts and theoretical bounds.

    الوصف: Non-cooperative target location is accomplished by means of multiple passive radar receivers deployed in the region of interest and that detect the delayed replicas of the signal emitted by the target and estimate the time difference of arrival. However, in realistic scenarios, some of the involved sensors could not correctly work if the sensor is victim of intentional/unintentional interference and/or physical damage of the device or its communication link. Thus, procedures for failure detection become of primary interest to discard the measurements related to the out-of-order sensors. The approach proposed in this paper identifies sensors under failure from the analysis of the errors in the equationsystem implemented to estimate the delays. More precisely, we first compute the second and fourth order correlations (namely, cross-correlation and cross-cross-correlation, i.e. the cross-correlation between signals' cross-correlations) of the incoming signals to build up the system of equation. Then, we perform a sequential cancellation of the equationsthat experience the highest errors. A statistical test based on the number of canceled equationsrelated to a specific sensor is used to state whether or not the specific sensor is under failure. Finally, the performance of the entire failure detection architecture is assessed by numerical simulations also in comparison with a heuristic method based on the percentages of canceled equationsand its standard counterparts not performing any outlier screening.
