الوصف: We report on the first measurements of branching fractions, CP-violating charge asymmetries, and longitudinal polarization fractions in charmless $B$ decays at the Belle II experiment. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance that corresponds to 34.6 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The results are compatible with the known values, which indicates a good understanding of detector performance.

الوصف: Belle II is an experiment designed to study billions of $\tau$-lepton, $b$- and $c$-quark decays observed with low background in asymmetric-energy electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB $B$-factory. In March 2019, the newly completed Belle II started operating and collected its first physics data reaching 10 fb$^{-1}$ to date. We report the reconstruction of prominent signals from various hadronic $B$ decays including $B^{-}\to D^{(*)0}\pi^{-}$, $B^{0}\to D^{-}K^{+}$, and $B^{0}\to K^{+}\pi^{-}$ in the first data set corresponding to 5.15 fb$^{-1}$. These results show a remarkable level of early understanding of detector performance.

الوصف: We report on the recent measurements of electroweak and radiative penguin $B$ decays at the Belle II experiment. We use samples of electron-positron collisions collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. We present the measurement of the branching fractions of $B^{+/0}\to K^*(892)^{+/0}\ell^+\ell^-~(\ell=e, \mu)$, $B^{+/0}\to K^{+/0}J/\psi$, and $B^{+/0}\to X_s\gamma$ decays in the data corresponding to 189 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We also present a search of $B^+\to K^+\nu\bar\nu$ decay in the data corresponding to 63 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity.

الوصف: We report on a measurement of the $\Omega_c^0$ lifetime using $\Omega_c^0 \to \Omega^-\pi^+$ decays reconstructed in $e^+e^-\to c\bar{c}$ data collected by the Belle II experiment and corresponding to $207~{\rm fb^{-1}}$ of integrated luminosity. The result, $\rm\tau(\Omega_c^0)=243\pm48( stat)\pm11(syst)~fs$, agrees with recent measurements indicating that the $\Omega_c^0$ is not the shortest-lived weakly decaying charmed baryon.

الوصف: International audience ; We present a measurement of the ratio $R_\mu = \mathcal{B}(\tau^-\to \mu^-\bar\nu_\mu\nu_\tau) / \mathcal{B}(\tau^-\to e^-\bar\nu_e\nu_\tau)$ of branching fractions $\mathcal{B}$ of the $\tau$ lepton decaying to muons or electrons using data collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The sample has an integrated luminosity of 362 fb$^{-1}$ at a centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Using an optimised event selection, a binned maximum likelihood fit is performed using the momentum spectra of the electron and muon candidates. The result, $R_\mu = 0.9675 \pm 0.0007 \pm 0.0036$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, is the most precise to date. It provides a stringent test of the light-lepton universality, translating to a ratio of the couplings of the muon and electron to the $W$ boson in $\tau$ decays of $0.9974 \pm 0.0019$, in agreement with the standard model expectation of unity.

الوصف: On March 25th 2019, the Belle II detector recorded the first collisions delivered by the SuperKEKB accelerator. This marked the beginning of the physics run with vertex detector. The vertex detector was aligned initially with cosmic ray tracks without magnetic field simultaneously with the drift chamber. The alignment method is based on Millepede II and the General Broken Lines track model and includes also the muon system or primary vertex position alignment. To control weak modes, we employ sensitive validation tools and various track samples can be used as alignment input, from straight cosmic tracks to mass-constrained decays. With increasing luminosity and experience, the alignment is approaching the target performance, crucial for the first physics analyses in the era of Super-BFactories. We will present the software framework for the detector calibration and alignment, the results from the first physics run and the prospects in view of the experience with the first data.

الوصف: The Belle II experiment features a substantial upgrade of the Belle detector and will operate at the SuperKEKB energy-asymmetric e+e− collider at KEK in Tsukuba, Japan. The accelerator completed its first phase of commissioning in 2016, and the Belle II detector saw its first electron-positron collisions in April 2018. Belle II features a newly designed silicon vertex detector based on double-sided strip layers and DEPFET pixel layers. A subset of the vertex detector was operated in 2018 to determine background conditions (Phase 2 operation). The collaboration completed full detector installation in January 2019, and the experiment started full data taking. This paper will report on the final arrangement of the silicon vertex detector part of Belle II with a focus on online monitoring of detector conditions and data quality, on the design and use of diagnostic and reference plots, and on integration with the software framework of Belle II. Data quality monitoring plots will be discussed with a focus on simulation and acquired cosmic and collision data.

We report on the recent measurements of electroweak and radiative penguin $B$ decays at the Belle II experiment.

الوصف: This is an experimental particle physics thesis aimed at measurements of properties of $B^+\rightarrow\rho^+\rho^0$ decays for the determination of the quark-mixing matrix angle \newline \mbox{$\alpha/\phi_2=\text{arg}(-(V_{td}V^*_{tb})/(V_{ud}V^*_{ub}))$}, a fundamental parameter of quark dynamics. The analysis uses the full data set of electron-positron ($e^+e^-$) collisions produced by the energy-asymmetric KEKB collider at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance collected by the Belle experiment and corresponding to 772 million pairs of bottom-antibottom mesons. Belle is an hermetic magnetic spectrometer surrounded by particle-identification detectors, calorimeters, and muon detectors designed to reconstruct the decay products of 10.58 GeV $e^+e^-$ collisions. The analysis is entirely developed using simulated and control-data samples. Only when all procedures are established the analysis is applied to the signal candidates in data. The principal challenge is to overcome the initial $10^{-6}$ signal-to-background ratio with a selection sufficiently discriminating to isolate an abundant, low-background signal without introducing intractable correlations in the multidimensional fit that determines the parameters of interest. Data are enriched in $B^+\rightarrow\rho^+\rho^0$ events by a multivariate statistical-learning selection that suppresses the most prominent source of background. A multidimensional fit of sample composition then identifies statistically the signal. Special care is devoted to keep the impact of systematic uncertainties under control. A total of approximately 1000 $B^+\rightarrow\rho^+\rho^0$ decays are reconstructed. The fit results, combined with acceptance and efficiency corrections determined from simulation, allow for determining the $B^+\to\rho^+\rho^0$ branching fraction, \begin{center} $\mathcal{B}(B^+\rightarrow\rho^+\rho^0)~=~[\text{xx}]^{+1.20}_{-1.19}~(\textrm{stat})\pm 1.46~(\textrm{syst})$, \end{center} the fraction of longitudinally polarized $B^+\rightarrow\rho^+\rho^0$ decays, \begin{center} $f_L~=~[\text{xx}]\pm 0.025~(\textrm{stat})\pm 0.020~(\textrm{syst})$, \end{center} and the ${\it CP}$-violating charge-asymmetry, \begin{center} $A_{\it CP}~=~[\text{xx}]\pm 0.052~(\textrm{stat})\pm 0.015~(\textrm{syst})$. \end{center} The central values are hidden as the analysis is still under internal collaboration review. The uncertainties are comparable with, or better than, the current world best results. Our results provide a 13$\%$ improvement on the global knowledge of $\alpha/\phi_2$.
