الوصف: The field of Precision Viticulture is crucial for optimizing vineyard productivity and sustainability, specifically as climate change poses increase threats to plant health. This work explores the development of an Internet of Things (IoT) system for the evaluation and mitigation of thermal stress in plants – focusing on vineyards, and complemented with tree fruits (loquat) –, an abiotic stress factor that can adversely affect growth and productivity. The proposed system combines in-situ sensing and remote sensing technologies, which include the use of thermography imagery, to collect real-time data on parameters such as air relative humidity, soil moisture, air/leaf/soil temperature, and luminosity. Through the integration of different sensing channels, the study establishes correlations between the monitored parameters, enabling a more comprehensive assessment of vineyard health status with respect to thermal stress. This mixture of different approaches facilitates real-time data collection, yielding a wealth of information vital to the vineyard's well-being. The IoT system discussed also includes a mobile application for the monitoring of the crops parameters, empowering viticulturists to make informed decisions aimed at preventing and easing the pervasive challenges posed by thermal stress.

الملخص (بالإنجليزية): Purpose: This study aims to understand the behavior of internal auditors towards quality and analyze if some organizational and individual factors influence internal audit quality. Design/methodology/approach: The sample is constituted by Portuguese internal auditors, and the methodology includes the use of partial least squares – structuring equation model (PLS-SEM) to test the hypothesis under study. Findings: The results show that there is a negative relationship between reduced audit quality practices (RAQP) and organizational commitment and independence. The results found that time pressure positively affect RAQP. There is no evidence that perceived organizational support (POS) and risk profile are determinants of RAQP. Originality/value: This work contributes by extending the literature about the determinants of internal audit quality, but also to the practice by understanding the factors that influence the behavior of internal auditors and by making recommendations that allow an improvement of the quality of internal auditing. الوصف: The European Commission asked EFSA for a Scientific Opinion: to revise the state of knowledge about the differences between the chronic wasting disease (CWD) strains found in North America (NA) and Europe and within Europe; to review new scientific evidence on the zoonotic potential of CWD and to provide recommendations to address the potential risks and to identify risk factors for the spread of CWD in the European Union. Full characterisation of European isolates is being pursued, whereas most NA CWD isolates have not been characterised in this way. The differing surveillance programmes in these continents result in biases in the types of cases that can be detected. Preliminary data support the contention that the CWD strains identified in Europe and NA are different and suggest the presence of strain diversity in European cervids. Current data do not allow any conclusion on the implications of strain diversity on transmissibility, pathogenesis or prevalence. Available data do not allow any conclusion on the zoonotic potential of NA or European CWD isolates. The risk of CWD to humans through consumption of meat cannot be directly assessed. At individual level, consumers of meat, meat products and offal derived from CWD‐infected cervids will be exposed to the CWD agent(s). Measures to reduce human dietary exposure could be applied, but exclusion from the food chain of whole carcasses of infected animals would be required to eliminate exposure. Based on NA experiences, all the risk factors identified for the spread of CWD may be associated with animals accumulating infectivity in both the peripheral tissues and the central nervous system. A subset of risk factors is relevant for infected animals without involvement of peripheral tissues. All the risk factors should be taken into account due to the potential co‐localisation of animals presenting with different disease phenotypes.

الوصف: EFSA was requested: to assess the impact of a proposed quantitative real-time polymerase chainreaction (qPCR)‘technical zero’on the limit of detection of official controls for constituents of ruminantorigin in feed, to review and update the 2011 QRA, and to estimate the cattle bovine spongiformencephalopathy (BSE) risk posed by the contamination of feed with BSE-infected bovine-derivedprocessed animal protein (PAP), should pig PAP be re-authorised in poultry feed and vice versa, usingboth light microscopy and ruminant qPCR methods, and action limits of 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300DNA copies. The current qPCR cannot discriminate between legitimately added bovine material andunauthorised contamination, or determine if any detected ruminant material is associated with BSEinfectivity. The sensitivity of the surveillance for the detection of material of ruminant origin in feed iscurrently limited due to the heterogeneous distribution of the material, practicalities of sampling andtest performance. A‘technical zero’will further reduce it. The updated model estimated a total BSEinfectivity four times lower than that estimated in 2011, with less than one new case of BSE expectedto arise each year. In the hypothetical scenario of a whole carcass of an infected cow entering the feedchain without any removal of specified risk material (SRM) or reduction of BSE infectivity via rendering,up to four new cases of BSE could be expected at the upper 95th percentile. A second modelestimated that at least half of the feed containing material of ruminant origin will not be detected orremoved from the feed chain, if an interpretation cut-off point of 100 DNA copies or more is applied. Ifthe probability of a contaminated feed sample increased to 5%, with an interpretation cut-off point of300 DNA copies, there would be a fourfold increase in the proportion of all produced feed that is contaminated but not detected. ; publishedVersion
