الوصف: Massage therapy has been shown to be highly effective in preventing premature birth, encouraging infant growth, increasing attention, reducing depression and aggression, treating motor problems, and reducing discomfort. Daycare is a partner institution for parents in childcare that synergizes in observing the growth and development of children's mental health. This community service program aims to increase knowledge about children's mental health, and training and mentoring regarding relaxing massage for children. This service activity plan consists of the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The methods to be carried out vary from giving interactive materials, demonstrations, discussions, and practice. This activity was attended by 24 caregivers, 2 presenters, and 6 community service teams. This program was attended by caregivers aged between 22-50 years, with most of them being married, the highest education level being high school (75%), and the most work experience under 3 years (67%). Based on the results of the evaluation, all participants benefited from the knowledge training on child mental development and the application of baby massage in carrying out their daily duties as caregivers at daycare centers. Training childcare practitioners' metallization and helping them achieve attitude-based metallization is effective in helping them better understand child development.

الوصف: Abstract Background Caregivers and family members of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) survivors can face emotional problems following patient discharge from hospital. We aimed to evaluate the impact of a multi-centre integrated health and social care intervention, on caregiver and family member outcomes. Methods This study evaluated the impact of the Intensive Care Syndrome: Promoting Independence and Return to Employment (InS:PIRE) programme across 9 sites in Scotland. InS:PIRE is an integrated health and social care intervention. We compared caregivers who attended this programme with a contemporary control group of ICU caregivers (usual care cohort), who did not attend. Results The primary outcome was anxiety measured via the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale at 12 months post-hospital discharge. Secondary outcome measures included depression, carer strain and clinical insomnia. A total of 170 caregivers had data available at 12 months for inclusion in this study; 81 caregivers attended the InS:PIRE intervention and completed outcome measures at 12 months post-hospital discharge. In the usual care cohort of caregivers, 89 completed measures. The two cohorts had similar baseline demographics. After adjustment, those caregivers who attended InS:PIRE demonstrated a significant improvement in symptoms of anxiety (OR: 0.42, 95% CI: 0.20–0.89, p = 0.02), carer strain (OR: 0.39; 95% CI: 0.16–0.98 p = 0.04) and clinical insomnia (OR: 0.40; 95% CI: 0.17–0.77 p

الوصف: A Research Thesis Submitted In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Award of Degree of Master of Public Health (Epidemiology and Disease Control) in the School of Health Sciences of Kenyatta University, August 2023. ; World Health Organization (WHO) defines mental health as a state of well-being where people realize and recognize their capacities, cope with life stressors, and contribute positively to society. Cases of mental illness in Kenya have been on the rise with an estimated prevalence of 10.7%. There is a gap between the need or demand for mental health services (MHS) and their utilization despite the government’s effort to devolve mental health care services to level 4 hospitals. There are about 284 level 4 hospitals in the country and only 29 of them offer mental health services. Psychiatric services are available in 26 out of 47 counties in Kenya. This leaves people in the remaining 21 counties to seek mental health services from other counties or MNTRH located in Nairobi. Therefore, there is need to address the barriers that limit the provision and use of mental health services if there is hope to lower the burden resulting from mental illnesses in Kenya. The main objective of the study was to investigate barriers to the utilization of mental health services at the MNTRH outpatient clinic. The study was a cross-sectional descriptive study that employed mixed (qualitative and quantitative) methods. Questionnaires were used to collect data coupled with structured interviews of key informants. 216 caregivers completed the questionnaires, and 5 key informants (healthcare workers) were interviewed. The study findings revealed that the cost of seeking mental health services is a critical barrier to accessing these services at the MNTRH outpatient clinic. More than half of the participants missed their clinics due to the cost of medication, 56% (n=120), consultation costs 55% (n=118), and transport= 54% (n=116). Pearson’s Chi-square showed statistically significant associations between the cost ...

الوصف: Depression affects one million Australians every year and family and friends (“carers”) provide the majority of day-to-day practical and emotional support to people in the community experiencing depression. Carers of people with depression face many specific challenges and are consistently shown to have much higher rates of mental ill-health than the general population. There is an emerging evidence base about the potential benefits of group education programs for carers of people with mental illness; however, there are only a few interventions that have been developed specifically for carers of people with depression that are also delivered independently of the treatment for the person being supported. The purpose of this program of research was to examine the mental health of Australian carers of people with depression and to investigate the efficacy of a specific carer intervention and the factors that affected the dissemination of this intervention. Three studies were conducted. In the first study, linear regression was used to examine the predictors of mental health in self-identified Australian carers of people with depression. The second study investigated the efficacy of the nationally disseminated Partners in Depression program, a group education course for carers of people with depression. In the third study, multinomial logistic regression was used to investigate individual, service and macro level predictors of delivery of the Partners in Depression program during the national dissemination period. Taken together, the findings from this program of research demonstrate the vulnerability of Australian carers of people with depression to mental ill-health, the potential benefits offered by a group education program developed specifically to address the information and support needs of this target group, and the barriers to dissemination of such an intervention in Australia. Having family and carer inclusive approaches embedded into routine mental health care would increase the capacity of the health ...
