    الوصف: The present study is a systematic review of the research on family functioning in families who have a child with a rare disease. The research was carried out using the databases Pubmed, EBSCO, and Google Scholar, following PRISMA guidelines. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria to the 460 articles initially found, a total of 49 articles made up the final sample. The following topics regarding family functioning were identified: impact of diagnosis; caregiver’s role and responsibilities; family functioning; impact on the emotional sphere; effects on marital and social life; coping strategies; family, and care and health system. The results of this study may provide justification for considering factors associated with family functioning when diagnosing a rare disease and deciding on treatment.

    الوصف: Introduction: This study analysed the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Pediatric Quality of Life Questionnaire Family Impact Module (PedsQL FIM) in the Argentinian population. Patients and Methods: The sample included 232 caregivers, of who 108 were parents of children with chronic diseases (mean, 9.54; standard deviation [SD], 4.43) and 124 parents of children in the general population (mean, 12.37; SD, 4.6). Results: We assessed the validity of the instrument with the known-groups method, finding significant differences between the case and control groups in the overall and subscale scores (P < .01). We also assessed test validity by means of exploratory factor analysis, which yielded an 8-factor model that explained 74.03% of the variance. We assessed reliability with the Cronbach alpha and found a high internal consistency (α = 0.95). Conclusion: The PedsQL module proved to be a valid and reliable tool to assess the impact of a chronic paediatric condition on caregiver quality of life and family functioning.     مستخلص: According to the Department of Education (Federal Student Aid Handbook, 2016), the cost of attendance is an estimate of a student's educational expenses for the period of enrollment. Cost of attendance is not only as important to consider as tuition and fees (which are only one component of cost of attendance), but it serves as the cornerstone of establishing a student's financial need. It sets a limit on the total financial aid that a student may receive from TEACH Grant, Campus-Based Programs, and Direct/Indirect Plus Loans, and is one of the basic components of the Pell Grant calculation (Federal Student Aid Handbook, 2016). For example, if the institution lists $8,224 as the tuition and fees, a student is likely to hit a financial ceiling due to unaccounted expenses such as books, lab equipment, health insurance, or other similar necessities. In clearly defining the cost of attendance, colleges include a more inclusive, though not completely exhaustive, list of the expenses not typically accounted for under the "fees" umbrella of "tuition and fees." The purpose of this policy brief is to explore college affordability through the perspectives and experiences of low-income students in the South. It will also highlight the value of need-based aid programs in increasing college completion rates and explain how specific states in the South are financially supporting low-income students. The brief concludes with recommendations for college faculty and administrators, legislators, and families of students to inform and mitigate college affordability issues that students routinely encounter in institutions of higher education.

    مستخلص: The Southern Education Foundation's (SEF) Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Consortium for Innovation and Change was instituted in 2011 to advance creative and promising initiatives that enhance institutional practice and student outcomes. In keeping with the SEF mission, these innovations specifically address educational barriers that disproportionately affect the degree-seeking low-income and student of color populations operating under the purview of higher education. This project was devised to target the persistent problem that developmental education (DE) poses for many, as both an impediment to degree attainment as well as an issue that disproportionately impacts low-income students and students of color. SEF engaged five MSIs along with a Technical Review and Support Team to launch an eclectic set of DE innovations. This report includes a summary of the DE interventions, evaluation strategies, and program outcomes at the participating institutions. Additionally, it offers descriptions of the evidence-based models that have been effective for DE at the MSIs, including: (1) Summer Bridge Program; (2) Co-Requisite Courses; (3) Interdisciplinary Curricula; (4) Extended Courses; and (5) Accelerated Math. It highlights effective strategies utilized by the campuses in an effort to scale the initiatives and lessons to consider for scaling such models. Finally, it concludes with recommendations for advancing DE reform efforts to improve teaching and learning while simultaneously addressing equity issues.     مستخلص: Objectives: What are some of the key reasons Asian American students enroll in community colleges? Method: We utilized qualitative methods, conducting 49 interviews in Southern California with current Asian American community college and transfer students at three institutions. Results: We identified five key reasons why Asian American participants attended community college: cost, strategy, lack of intentionality in college planning, lack of support and accurate information, and needing a second chance. Contributions: Altogether, findings showcase how Asian Americans experience an array of diverse pathways in choosing to access the community college. In particular, findings highlight the major roles of cost and life hardship in Asian American students' motivations for attending community colleges.

The editors and their contributors examine leadership at MSIs from an anti-deficit approach and create and add to the scholarly discourse around effective leadership practices, models, and strategies for leaders at MSIs. With this approach, this book seeks to help leaders of MSIs increase their leadership capacities, which may help expand the pipeline of MSI leaders and equip them with the skills to be successful in their positions.

    الوصف: El presente artículo busca clarificar el sentido del consumo en la filosofía de Hegel. Para ello propongo el siguiente recorrido por el sistema hegeliano. Comienzo por el concepto desarrollado del consumo, tal como aparece en la Filosofía del Derecho, en la sección sobre el sistema de las necesidades. Luego presento la forma menos desarrollada del consumo en la Fenomenología del Espíritu, como primera manifestación espiritual del consumo. En la conclusión explico por qué el consumo en la Filosofía del Derecho debe entenderse como la forma plenamente desarrollada del consumo en la Fenomenología del Espíritu, en la medida en que el primero supone una intersubjetividad plena y el segundo no. Asimismo, enumero los aportes de la Fenomenología del Espíritu para la comprensión del consumo en el sistema de las necesidades.

    الوصف: La Filosofía del Derecho (PhR) de Hegel puede ser analizada, o bien con independencia de la Ciencia de la Lógica, o bien en base a las premisas metafísicas desarrolladas en esta última obra. en el presente artículo se enumeran las diferentes posiciones sobre esta cuestión y se agrupan los diversos intentos que en los últimos a.os se han llevado a cabo para actualizar la PhR. La distinción de cinco niveles de análisis de la articulación entre lo ético y lo lógico en la PhR nos permite concluir que tanto la tesis de la dependencia como la tesis de la independencia pueden ser compatibles entre sí dado que refieren a niveles distintos de análisis.
