Ethiopia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue discussions later this month regarding a potential bailout program that would assist Ethiopia in restructuring its debts. The IMF staff's two-week visit to Ethiopia resulted in significant progress towards determining how the IMF could support the country's economic program. Talks will resume during the IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, starting on April 15. The government has applied to renegotiate its obligations under the Common Framework, a Group of 20 initiative aimed at helping poorer countries restructure loans with sovereigns, bondholders, and commercial lenders.
