مستخلص: The article elaborates on the research conducted by M. Murakami and T. Kouyama on the implication of squid rhodopsin to invertebrates vision and intracellular signaling system in the U.S. Researchers found that many invertebrates have excellent visual systems which can be used in catching their prey. In vertebrates, such photoreceptor protein rhodopsin contribute significantly to the mentioned abilities. Murakami and Kouyama discovered that rhodopsin is located in the cell membrane of photoreceptor cells, when activated by light, it undergoes a conformational change that triggers the action of a heterotrimeric GTP-binding protein which is located beneath the cell membrane.
