The article looks at compliance issue in the use of multi-drug treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. To prevent chronic complications, glycemic control still remains as a goal for treating type 2 diabetes. In a study that used claims from a managed care plan in Oregon, the adherence to oral diabetes medications (ODM) in type 2 diabetic patients was analyzed. Several factors to consider when selecting treatment and medication options include age, duration of the disease and underlying pathophysiology. |
