Arab notarial documents supply us with a wealth of information that helps with the analysis of many aspects relative to the daily life of people: toponymy, town planning, society, customs, etc. This article's purpose is to stress the importance of this documentary material through the study, edition and translation of two Arab notarial documents from the fifteenth century pertaining to the Archive of the Cathedral of Grenade. According to these documents, we can prove the existence of the al-Murdī gate, whose presence is attested from the fourteenth century, at the time of Banū Nasr, the last Islamic dynasty of the Iberian Peninsula.
