مستخلص: Is there the development of a global system of racism in the era of globalization? This paper argues that globalization creates a common context that increases the likelihood of racist and nationalist responses in ‘the West’, but that these tendencies materialize in qualitatively different ways in different national societies. The paper compares data for different European societies and the U.S., and explores the factors that account for the differences in the racial formations of Western societies in the global era.
