The authors comment on a study discussed within the issue about the use of sunbeds by young people in England. Findings showed an increase of sunbed usage from 1.8% at age 11-14 to 11.2% at age 15-17. Further, the study highlighted the health risks of sunbed usage. These include the risk of melanoma and ultraviolet A radiation. Referring to results from a similar survey conducted in the U.S., the authors conclude that short of an outright ban, parental permission can be required. |
