The article describes the anatomy and systematics of Colepiocephale lambei (Dinosauria). Colepiocephale lambei recovered from the Foremost Formation of Alberta is considered as a problematic pachycephalosaurid. It is said to be a distinct taxon based on several autapomorphies and stratigraphic segregation from Stegoceras validum. A phylogenetic analysis of the species revealed that it occupies a basal position within the pachycephalosaurid. According to the authors, their observations on the phylogentics of Colepiocephale lambei revealed the impact of anatomical misinterpretations on the phylogenetic position of a given taxon. |
