The article discusses the side effects of antivascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in kidney. It cites the case of a Caucasian male who was diagnosed with metastatic renal cell cancer and was introduced to a treatment with sunitinib. A study was conducted to examine patients with sunitinib and bevacizumab treatment to look for glomerular proteinuria and podocyturia. A summary of the analysis of urinary albumin-creatinine (UAC) ratios and podocyturia in patients receiving VEGF-blocking therapy is presented. |
