In this article, the author discusses the new target called DEPTOR expression and thalidomide response for the treatment of multiple myeloma. It says that the activation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) or Akt pathway adds to the constitution of a tumor cell. It mentions that thalidomide treatment helps suppress Akt signaling. Furthermore, the use of thalidomide treatment on patients that have high DEPTOR expression makes them survive longer than those with lower DEPTOR expression. |
