مستخلص: Dear editor Bansal et al.1 shed light on the lack of preparation and confidence medical students face when engaging in end-of-life (EOL) discussions. Although even senior students may not be the most experienced to lead the second consultation, nor are actively involved in long-term EOL care, their engagement during the first consultation should enhance rapport between the patient and student.4 This rapport, in addition to the skills gained during initial SBT, should facilitate patient consent for the student to lead the supervised second conversation at a time appropriate and comfortable for the patient. Akin to other clinical skills performed by medical students, the SCF should allow better preparation to eventually lead full EOL discussions upon graduation - a skill crucial to future patient care.
