Highlights: [•] TiO2 thin films with different thickness can be reliably fabricated by sol–gel spin coating process. [•] The thin films were characterized and exhibited superior homogeneous aggregation on the substrate, good optical transparency, superhydrophilicity, and high photocatalytic activity. [•] The photocatalytic activity was strongly correlated with the film thickness and followed Langmuir-type kinetics. [•] A model was proposed to rationalize the dependence of the film thickness on the photocatalytic activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
