مستخلص: The article proposes that small- to medium-sized hospitals providing excellent pharmaceutical care to patients would make excellent sites for advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs). The patient mix at such hospitals would create a unique opportunity for pharmacy students to complete quality APPEs in non-tertiary-care settings. To meet the demand for hospital-based APPEs, colleges of pharmacy must develop rotations in small- to medium-sized hospitals and should actively partner with willing pharmacists who work in these settings. Two key challenges that many of the pharmacists will face are (1) increasing their involvement in direct patient care and (2) marketing their services.
