Caribbean nations also boast one of the highest per capita rates of traumatic brain injury (TBI) at 706 per 100,000 and, in Haiti, for example, it is estimated that there are nearly 600 new pediatric hydrocephalus cases annually.[2],[3] Though political momentum is increasing, sustained engagement from the international neurosurgical community is necessary to curtail this ongoing challenge. Convening international stakeholders for meetings geared towards advancing global neurosurgery in the Caribbean would be ideal, and a backdrop of paradise is the perfect location to host such forums.
