The article reports on the dismissal of the guidance from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency by Adam Bajkowski, president of the Primary Care Rheumatology Society in England. The guidance restricts non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and recommends that piroxicam should only be initiated as second-line arthritis treatment. However, Iain Gilchrist, general practitioner in Bishop's Stortford, said that the use of piroxicam was not beyond the scope of GPs. |
