الوصف: The expression of A, B, and H group antigens, Lewis group antigens (Lewis(a), Lewis(b), Lewis(x), and Lewis(y)), and Lc4 and nLc4 antigens, the precursor antigens of both groups, was examined immunohistochemically with monoclonal antibodies in 9 normal endometria, 6 endometrial hyperplasias, and 31 endometrial cancers. 1) A, B and/or H antigens were detected in endometrial cancers at an incidence of 51.6%, while no distinct localization of these antigens was observed in normal endometria. H antigen, the precursor of A and B antigens, was particularly frequently detected in endometrial cancers. 2) An increased rate of expression of Lewis group antigens, particularly Lewis(b) antigen, was observed in endometrial cancers compared with its expression in normal endometria. 3) Lc4 and nLc4 antigens were detected in endometrial cancers at rates of 41.9% and 38.7%, respectively, these expressions being increased compared with those in normal endometria. 4) These results suggest that a highly abnormal expression of blood group-related antigens in endometrial cancers occurs not only at the level of A, B, and H antigens and Lewis group antigens, but also at the level of their precursor Lc4 and nLc4 antigens. 5) Lewis(a), Lewis(b), and Lc4 antigens, built on the type-1 chain, are more specific to endometrial cancers than their respective positional isomers, Lewis(x), Lewis(y), and nLc4 antigens, built on the type-2 chain.

الوصف: We isolated the human C-type natriuretic peptide gene and identified the peptide in the brain. The human C-type natriuretic peptide gene appeared to be composed of at least two exons and one intron. In the 5'-flanking region, there is an array of cis elements (an inverted CCAAT box, two GC boxes, and a cyclic AMP response element-like sequence) that is not present in upstream sequences of the atrial and brain natriuretic peptide genes. Analysis of the deduced amino acid sequence revealed that human prepro C-type natriuretic peptide comprises 126 amino acids and that the C-terminal 22-residue peptide (G-L-S-K-G-C-F-G-L-K-L-D-R-I-G-S-M-S-G-L-G-C) preceded by Lys-Lys is identical to the porcine counterpart. However, replacement of two amino acids took place in the C-terminal 53-residue sequence, corresponding to another endogenous form of the peptide. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a radioimmunoassay for C-type natriuretic peptide demonstrated that it occurs in the human brain. C-type natriuretic peptide-like immunoreactivity was detected in discrete regions of the human brain, and its level was 10-fold higher than the atrial and brain natriuretic peptide levels, raising the possibility that C-type natriuretic peptide is the major natriuretic peptide in the human brain.

الوصف: The effects of thiopental sodium on the regulation of interdigestive migrating contractions (IMC) in the stomach were investigated in dogs with extrinsically denervated fundic pouches. During the interdigestive state, strong phasic contractions in the pouch took place consistently in accordance with the IMC in the main stomach. The cyclic increase in plasma motilin concentration was more closely correlated with the increase in contractile activity in the pouch than the increase in the main stomach. General anesthesia by thiopental sodium promptly inhibited the IMC in the main stomach but the contractile activity in the pouch was not affected but gradually decreased in proportion to the decrease in plasma motilin concentration. In conclusion, contractile activity in the extrinsically denervated pouch, which is quite independent of the CNS, is directly controlled by a humoral factor(s), motilin. However, interdigestive motor activity in the extrinsically intact stomach appears to be regulated by the CNS as well as peripheral circulation humoral factors.

الوصف: 消化管原発悪性リンパ腫の由来細胞を同定することは重要であり,かつ過去の症例についても検討できることの意義は大きい.しかし,従来は凍結切片を用いる方法が一般的であった.したがって,ホルマリン固定標本により同定が可能となれば大きな福音となる.われわれは過去に経験した大腸原発悪性リンパ腫3例の由来細胞を同定するため病変部より得られたホルマリン固定パラフィン包埋切片に対し,マウスモノクロナール抗体抗B細胞(MB-1),抗T細胞(MT-1),抗LeuM-1(LeuM-1)を用い酵素抗体染色により由来細胞の検討をした.腫瘍細胞に対する染色性は良好であった.自験例3例のうち2例はB細胞性,1例はT細胞性であった,B細胞性の1例はその経過中に腫瘍細胞の形態の変化を認めたが本法により同一の細胞由来であることが推測された.本法は手技も比較的簡単であり,またretrospectiveな検索も可能なため悪性リンパ腫の由来細胞の同定に有用である.

الوصف: The relation between the chemical structure of commercially available macrolide antibiotics and their activity in inducing interdigestive migrating contractions (IMC) was studied in conscious dogs. It was found that the 14-membered macrolides erythromycin and oleandomycin are active in inducing IMC in the stomach in association with the endogenous release of motilin. These erythromycin- and oleandomycin-induced contractions in the stomach migrated through the small intestine in a caudad direction. Conversely, 16-membered macrolide antibiotics such as leucomycin, acetylspiramycin, and tylosin do not induce any contractions in the stomach or stimulate endogenous release of motilin. These findings suggest that the IMC-inducing activity in macrolides seems to be closely related to their chemical configuration, i.e., the structure of 14-membered macrolides with dimethylaminosugar (desosamine) bound at C-5 and neutralsugar at C-3 in glycosidic linkage in parallel is likely to be necessary for IMC-inducing activity. The mechanisms by which erythromycin and oleandomycin stimulate endogenous motilin release are not known.
