This article reports on the results of research conducted by the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands which suggest that measuring with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) the intracranial pressure of infants with progressive hydrocephalus helps physicians in determining the right time for surgical intervention. The study was published in the "Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics." The study explains that clinical signs of raised intracranial pressure associated with hydrocephalus can be unreliable and even misleading. |
