مستخلص: Papillary muscle rupture (PMR) is one of the most serious complications of acute myocardial infarction (MI). However, the operative mortality for PMR in patients with IABP support is still high, ranging from 12.5% to 39.3% in the literature, although 42%-58% of the patients were supported with IABP in the cohorts. Schroeter et al reported that the risk of death increased significantly in those who needed ECMO support after PMR repair, and ECMO therapy did not seem to improve survival unless patients were younger and without comorbidities.
