The article comments on the paper "Intensive versus conventional insulin therapy: A randomized controlled trial in medical and surgical critically ill patients," by Y.M. Arabi and colleagues. According to the authors, the study did not find an effect of intensive insulin therapy (IIT) on intensive care unit-mortality, nor on any of the secondary end points. The authors add that the exemption has been an increased prevalence of hypoglycemia in the IIT group. |
