The article comments on a research which found the associations of air pollution/pollutants, genetic factors and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) risk, and provided evidence of the pulmonary mucosal paradigm for RA risk. It points out conflicting data from two separate studies which found non-association of pollutants including particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide with RA risk, and non-association of pollutants with RA risk after adjustment for smoking and education. |
