Highlights: [•] Nanoporous sol–gel silica beads can be used as a substrate for FRET-based biosensing. [•] Silica is converted into biosensor by functionalization and crosslinking Cy3-antibody to which Cy5-Protein A is anchored. [•] Fluorescence property has been utilized to evaluate the potential of this biosensor to detect troponin. [•] Results of this research show that the detection limit of troponin using the FRET system is 10–5ngmL−1. [•] Optimized parameters considering the detection limits is needed for extending the method for detection of other biomarkers. [Copyright &y& Elsevier] |
