Surgical education is not only a technical education; one has to teach junior surgeons how to cope with being a surgeon and that depends on daily teaching from women as well as men. In the last years of her career, Pr Le Pimpec-Barthes shares her own experience: "I could take advantage of a benevolent and gender-free mentoring throughout my residency, which led me to the position of head of thoracic surgery department in Paris.
