The article discusses research on safety and efficacy of a DNA prime-recombinant adenovirus type 5 boost (DNA/rAd5) vaccine. It reports brief details of DNA-rAd5 vaccine administration to individuals who are at high risk for HIV type 1 (HIV-1) infection, immunogenicity assays performed, and statistical analysis of data from the Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention. In conclusion, the vaccine regimen failed to reduce rate of HIV-1 acquisition among the population studied. |
