This research note demonstrates the various steps involved in creating a computerized database in the context of a social history nursing research project regarding the dehospitalization of psychiatric patients. The handling of active and unactive files of patients judged vulnerable is of particular significance in the storage of these sensitive materials. Furthermore, in this age of computers, paper files tend to disappear, are transformed into numerical format, or face potential destruction. Digitizing the files and storing them electronically are effective means of preserving this often neglected collective memory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Cette note de recherche fait état des différentes étapes de la création d'une base de données informatisées dans le cadre d'un projet de recherche socio-historique en sciences infirmières portant sur la « déhospitalisation » de patients psychiatrisés. La manipulation de dossiers actifs et inactifs de patients jugés « vulnérables » revêt un caractère particulier lors de l'entreposage de ces données sensibles. De plus, à l'ère de l'informatisation, les dossiers en formats papier tendent à disparaître, étant transformés en formats numériques, ou faisant face à une destruction potentielle. La photo-numérisation et le ré-archivage électronique s'avèrent des moyens efficaces pour la conservation de cette mémoire collective souvent négligée. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
