مستخلص: This article reports the first occurrence of Pythium deliense causing damping-off and root rot in soybean plants in South Africa. The disease was observed in a commercial field in the North West Province in January 2020. Isolates from diseased roots were identified as P. deliense through morphological and molecular analyses. Pathogenicity tests confirmed that the isolates caused damping-off and root rot in soybean plants. This is the first report of P. deliense affecting soybean in South Africa, although it has been previously reported in Brazil, China, and India. [Extracted from the article]
