By tying in the lyrics of “I’m Already There,” by Lonestar, a list of the places and souvenirs, utilizing scenes of his return home, and capturing the constant threat of deployment, the essay grows with the girl, demonstrating how as she gets older, her ability to give back to her dad increases, and she ultimately discovers that the only gift that truly makes a difference is the gift of time. |
