The article presents a retrospective cohort study to examine the influence of age, comorbidities and treatment type on mortality among elderly patients with acute Type II odontoid fractures. It used a Cox regression model to compare the hazard ratio associated with surgery for mortality after odontoid fracture among the elderly aged 65 - 74, 75 -84 and 85 years and above. It shows a high rate of mortality associated with Type II odontoid fractures among the elderly regardless of intervention. |
