The article presents a study which aims to determine the final step in establishing left-right (LR) asymmetry to confer asymmetric morphogenesis on the gut organ primordia. Results on the tissue mechanics underlying gut asymmetry, across a variety of species, which were used to synthesize a model for asymmetric gut morphogenesis were outlined. The study discussed the value of right formation of left-right asymmetry for the development of gut and the effects of perturbations during the process. |
