The author reflects on the admission of his elderly father to a cardiac intensive care unit for myocardial infarction and the difficulties that relatives encounter with the health care system. He recalls that strong sedatives such as lorazepam and quetiapine fumarate were forced on him after problems with the radial artery stent and cardiac catheter. His family had him moved to a Henry Ford Health System rehabilitation center and eventually to senior living arrangements. |
