| الوصف: | Introduction: To train critical nurses and health professionals has become an increasingly pressing requirement. Critical thinking stands out in the process of clinical reasoning and decision making, through the mediation of skills and dispositions, indispensable to the performance of critical thinkers. This research is justified by the relevance of the theme for nursing / health education and the lack in Brazil of an instrument to measure the willingness for critical thinking. It was elected the Critical Thinking Disposition Scale for presenting satisfactory reliability and validity values. Objective: To perform the translation, cultural adaptation and analysis of the psychometric properties of the Critical Thinking Disposition Scale into Brazilian Portuguese. Method: methodological study carried out in two phases. The first consisted of six steps: initial translation, translation synthesis, back-translation, expert committee, pre-test and documentation submission to developers or steering committee to evaluate the adaptation process. In the second phase, the psychometric properties of the instrument were evaluated. Results: The changes made to the instrument after the first three steps were satisfactory. The final version of the scale obtained content validity coefficient ranging from 0.88 to 0.96 for the items. The application time ranged from 12 to 20 minutes. The instrument presented Cronbach's alpha of 0.71 for the full scale at the test stage and 0.78 during the retest. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.83. The model fit index values were satisfactory (X² 105.55, gl 43, CFI 0.77, RMSEA 0.09, GFI 0.91 and SRMR 0.078) and the factor loadings were greater than 0.40. Conclusions: the first phase was satisfactorily performed and the scale considered adequate for the Brazilian context.
