مستخلص: Recent literature on self-regulation integrates two main components: effortful control (EC) and executive functions (EF). These constructs have historically been measured in separate fields, primarily with EC as the focus of temperament research while EF as the focus of cognitive neuroscience and clinical psychology. This study examined the level of self-regulation (involving both effortful control and executive functions) amongst 201 5- to 7-year-old Hungarian children. Findings suggest that curricula designed to improve self-regulation skills may be most effective in helping children succeed in school. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
