مستخلص: A biography of Scots-born John Witherspoon, founding father and signer of the Declaration of Independence, is presented. Witherspoon was born in 1723 in Haddington, Scotland and studied in the University of Edinburgh where his reputation as a preacher was honed with liberal ideas of the Scottish Enlightenment. He sailed to the U.S. to be principal of Princeton College in New Jersey where he introduced the Scottish model curriculum. He was credited with molding Presbyterian thought in New England and for framing the first constitution of New Jersey.
