مستخلص: This article discusses a study conducted by Miranda et al. that aimed to improve our understanding of exercise hemodynamics in patients with Fontan circulation. The study analyzed 72 adult post-Fontan patients who underwent exercise cardiac catheterization at the Mayo clinic. The researchers categorized the patients into those with abnormal and normal hemodynamics and found that patients with abnormal hemodynamics had higher pulmonary artery (PA) and pulmonary artery wedge pressure (PAWP) during exercise, as well as lower maximum workload and heart rate. The study also explored potential pathophysiological mechanisms for the insufficient hemodynamic response to exercise in Fontan patients, including diastolic dysfunction. The findings of this study have important implications for the treatment and prognosis of post-Fontan patients. [Extracted from the article]
