الوصف: ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different nutritional plans on the productive, physiological and metabolic parameters of F1 ½ Holstein x ½ Zebu cows in different stages of lactation. Sixty lactating cows were allotted to a completely randomized 5 x 3 factorial design with five feed allowances and three lactation periods. The dry matter intake, milk yield and heart rate were reduced by 5.69kg, 2.41kg and 10.36 beats/min (morning) and 10.25 beats/min (afternoon) for each 1% feed restriction, respectively. There was no difference in the concentration of glucose, total protein, albumin, cholesterol and non-esterified fatty acids for cows subjected to different feed allowances, with means of 95.25, 7.98, 2.95, 121.68 and 0.45mg/dL, respectively. Feed restriction of up to 2.50% BW is a cost reduction strategy that does not alter milk yield, regardless of the stage of lactation.

RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos de diferentes planos nutricionais sobre as características produtivas, fisiológicas e metabólicas de vacas F1 ½ Holandês x ½ Zebu. Foram utilizadas 60 vacas em lactação, seguindo-se o delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 5 x 3, com cinco níveis de oferta de dieta e três períodos de lactação. À medida que se aumentou 1% na restrição da oferta da dieta, houve redução linear de 5,69kg no consumo de matéria seca pelos animais, 2,41kg na produção de leite, bem como de 10,36bat/min (manhã) e 10,25 bat/min (tarde) na frequência cardíaca dos animais. Não houve diferença para a concentração de glicose, proteínas totais, albumina, colesterol e NEFA com a restrição na oferta da dieta dos animais, sendo a média de 95,25, 7,98, 2,95, 121,68 e 0,45mg/dL, respectivamente. Recomenda-se a restrição de até 2,50% de peso corporal como estratégia de redução dos custos em todos os estágios em lactação, visando não alterar, economicamente, a produção de leite.

الوصف: Avaliaram-se o efeito da adição de diferentes fontes energéticas na dieta de vacas primíparas leiteiras, durante o período de transição, sobre a produção e a composição do leite, as ocorrências clínicas no pós-parto e sua relação com as concentrações plasmáticas de ácidos graxos não esterificados (AGNE). Foram utilizadas 50 vacas primíparas da raça Holandesa no período de 28 dias antes da data prevista do parto até o 21º dia pós-parto. Os animais foram designados aos grupos: controle, Megalac- E®, soja tostada (ST) ou propileno glicol (PG). Avaliações clínicas foram realizadas todos os dias. Amostras de sangue foram coletadas no pré e pós parto, antes da primeira alimentação do dia, para avaliação de AGNE. Os grupos Megalac- E® e propileno glicol apresentaram maior volume de leite corrigido para 3,5% de gordura (LCG 3,5%) em relação ao grupo soja tostada (P=0,05). Nos grupos controle, Megalac- E® e soja tostada, os valores de AGNE aumentaram até o parto, seguidos de queda após o parto. Essa queda foi menos acentuada no grupo-controle, que apresentou equação de regressão quadrática, estando associado à maior incidência de afecções no pós-parto. O grupo Megalac-E® apresentou comportamento cúbico, o soja tostada hiperbólico, e o propileno glicol quadrático. The purpose of this trial was to evaluate the effect of different energy sources added to the diet over milk production and composition, disease incidence during postpartum period and its relationship to NEFA concentrations during the transition period. Fifty primiparous Holstein dairy cows were used from 28 days before the expected calving date until 21 days postpartum. Cows were randomly distributed in four groups, being: control, Megalac- E®, toasted soybean (TS) and propylene glycol (PG). Clinical evaluations were performed during all experimental days. Blood samples were collected in pre and postpartum periods, before the first feeding of sampling day in order to determine NEFA prolife. Megalac- E® and propylene glicol groups showed greater milk production corrected to 3.5% fat compared to group toasted soybean (P=0.05). In control groups, Megalac-E® and toasted soybean values of NEFA increased until delivery and then decreased. This decrease was less pronounced in the control group that showed a quadratic regression equation associated with higher incidence of postpartum disorders. The Megalac-E® group showed a cubic model, the toasted soybean hyperbolic and propylene glycol quadratic equations.

الوصف: Ketosis can seriously impair cow performance. This study detected changes in prepartum blood metabolic parameters for predicting postpartum ketosis occurrence in dairy cows. Body condition score (BCS) was assessed before and after delivery. Blood samples of 63 cows were collected from 10 days before calving to 10 days after calving to measure metabolic parameters including β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA), non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), glucose (GLU), total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), indirect bilirubin (IBIL), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), globulin (GLO), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). There was a postpartum subclinical ketosis incidence of 42.25%. Compared with prepartum, plasma, levels of BHBA, AST, and NEFA significantly increased postpartum, and prepartum AST (R=0.57) and NEFA (R=0.45) showed a significant positive correlation with ketosis postpartum. Plasma GLU level significantly decreased postpartum and was significantly negatively correlated with ketosis (R=-0.21). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis revealed prepartum BSC < 2.88, and prepartum plasma AST > 68.0 U/L, GLU < 3.97mmol/L, NEFA > 0.27mmol/L, and BHBA > 0.43mmol/L, indicating a high risk of subclinical ketosis postpartum. These levels can be used as risk indicators to predict the occurrence of subclinical ketosis in postpartum cows.
