The article offers information on the history of Nigeria. Recorded history of Nigeria's northern cities of Kano and Katsina, dates back to about 1000 A.D. After several centuries, these Hausa kingdoms and the Bornu empire near Lake Chad prospered as important terminals of north-south trade between North African Berbers and forest people. In about 1400, the Yoruba kingdom of Oyo was founded in the southwest. |
