Experimental Design: Good knowledge about the evolution of small bowel function after transient anoxia is important in so far as, in the course of allograft, surgical procedure and anoxia related phenomena may interfere with early rejection manifestations. The effects of anoxia on various intestinal functions were therefore investigated as part of a research program on small bowel transplantation in the swine.
