The article discusses how very heavy computer and internet usage may be considered as a risk factor for schizophrenia in intelligent young males. It reports on three healthy male students, with no family history of mental illness, who presented with psychosis. All three were found to be heavy users of computer, all of them spending more than 10-12 hours on internet daily, mostly for gaming. The three males were intelligent but suffered psychosis and delusions brought on by heavy computer usage. |
