The article provides an overview on the development of multicultural social work in the U.S. It was observed that multicultural social work has been evolving despite limited knowledge, insufficient resources, and inadequate infusion into the curriculum. The Council on Social Work Education has expounded standards in schools concerning social work non-discrimination in 1960. The different innovative initiatives to be fully structured into social work curriculum include service learning requirements, national ethnic resource centers and ethnic studies dual degree programs. |
