The article focuses on the improvement of transplantation outcome for multiple myeloma in North America. Multiple myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells where autologous stem cell transplantation is used to treat the disease. It was noted that patients succumb to the disease in spite of transplantation regimens. The application of novel anti-myeloma treatments have developed nontransplant options and conventional therapy. Transplants have become a standard care in multiple myeloma. |
