Insulin pens are injector pens used in patient's self-administration of insulin and are intended to be used by only one patient. Sharing of insulin pens may lead to the transmission hepatitis B and C and HIV. A report from the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas found that diabetics admitted at the center are at risk of blood-borne disease due to incorrect medical procedures.
