The article discusses the medicine Metformin, which is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and is effective for obese patients. Particular focus is given to the abnormalities in patients with T2D which impacts the incretin hormones and hence incretin-based therapies are used as an alternative treatment including monotherapy, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, and dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors. |
