Objective To analyze ANKRD18B gene methylation and expression in colorectal cancer. Methods Methylation specific PCR was used to detect the DNA methylation of ANKRD18B gene. The RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression of ANKRD18B gene in tumor cells with 5-aza-dC-treated treatment. Results The hypermethylation of ANKRD18B was detected in colorectal cancer tissues (59%, 24/41) and (0%, 0/20) in normal tissues. ANKRD18B showed hypermethylation and its expression decreased in colon cancer cell line SW480 and HT29. After treatment with demethylation drug, the expression of ANKRD18B gene increased. Conclusion ANKRD18B gene hypermethylated, which inhibited the expression of the gene in colorectal cancer. ANKRD18B gene methylation may play an important role in colorectal cancer.
